This is an Informal net. It will be used in situations where an
Information or
Resource net is not
needed, but when a developing situation may require activation of a higher level
net. Examples would be an approaching storm front, major accident or HAZMAT
incident that do not require ARES activation but bears watching, any other time
the potential exists for an ARES activation, but we have not yet been requested.
In these situations, the DEC, an EC, AEC or ARES Net Control Op will
establish an ARES Stand-By net.
1. This will be an Informal net. Normal amateur use of the repeater
will continue.
2. The Net Control will make periodic announcements that ARES is in stand
by status, and request that all users of the frequency leave frequent breaks in
their exchanges to ensure that Emergency or Priority Traffic can break in as
needed. Net Control will also pass along any updates to the situation as they
receive them.
3. The Net Control will be prepared to escalate to a formal ARES
Information Net
if required, or to an
ARES Resource Net if directed to do so by the DEC or an EC or AEC.
