Public service events are an integral part of Ham emergency preparedness.  Participating in events provides the following benefits:

  1. An opportunity to test out new equipment and operating techniques.
  2. Experience in operating under formal nets.
  3. A chance to meet and interact with fellow hams.
  4. Allows other organizations and public officials to see first hand what amateur radio and ARES can offer, as well as a chance to practice working with some of the same folks we'd be supporting in an emergency.
  5. Exposure of Amateur radio to the general public.
  6. Oh, and let's not forget; FUN!

There are dozens of public service opportunities in District 3 during the course of a year.  Their needs range from a few hams providing demonstrations to school kids to almost a hundred over the course of several days.  Hopefully you will be able  find a few each year that you will be able to support.

This page is not intended to be a comprehensive listing of all public service events in the area.  Keep an ear out at club meetings or on your local repeaters.  Nor should you take the information on this page as the last word on times, places, etc.  The information posted here is what was provided by the event coordinator. Always check with the point of contact in each listing prior to showing up for an event.

If you have information on an upcoming event, please E-mail it to us.
